How to obtain a Flimsy Axe in Animal Crossing

The Flimsy Axe, the weakest, is the first axe a player gets in Animal Crossing, although later a player will use the regular axe which can be easily obtained.

Shortly after arriving on your island, you will receive your first axe. To obtain it you need to collect a few bugs and fish then head over to Tom Nook’s Resident Service tent and talk to him or you can choose from the prompt saying that you found creatures. Donate two of them to Tom and in return, he will reward you by giving you the Flimsy Axe DIY recipe. The two creatures cannot be duplicates.

The Flimsy Axe can now be crafted from:

  • x5 Tree Branches
  • x1 Stone

With the Flimsy Axe, you can chop trees for wood required for crafting other items such as the Standard Axe and other Axes.

Also, the Flimsy Axe can be obtained by purchasing it at the general store.

Pro Tip! The Flimsy Axe can be used a total of 40 times before it breaks.

How to obtain a Standard Axe

A Standard Axe is a sturdier and more robust axe compared to the Flimsy Axe. With time, a player can make a studier axe in the game. To craft the Standard Axe, you’ll need:

  • x1 Flimsy Axe
  • x1 Iron Nugget
  • x3 Wood

You will need to obtain the recipe for the Axe from the Pretty Good Tools Recipes item. This item is purchased for 3,000 Nook Miles at the Nook Stop terminal. Initially, you need to have paid a 5,000 Nook Miles fee to Tom Nook to continue with your recipe purchase.

As an option besides crafting, The Standard Axe can be purchased in Animal Crossing from Nook’s Cranny for 2500 Bells.

A Standard Axe is capable of fully cutting trees down after a few swings unlike its earlier predecessor the Flimsy axe.

How to obtain a Stone Axe

To get materials like Iron Nuggets from rocks you will need a good enough axe and that is a Stone Axe. It is a more durable axe as compared to the Flimsy Axe. The Stone Axe recipe is in the ‘Pretty Good Tools Recipe’ item which is bought from the Nook Stop.

The crafting materials needed are:

  • x1 Flimsy Axe
  • x3 Wood

The advantage of the Stone Axe is that you can swipe at trees and harvest wood all day without worries about chopping down any of your trees. For that to be achieved you’ll need to upgrade your Flimsy Axe with different materials such as stone.

How to obtain a Gold Axe

To get the Golden Axe in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will need to have broken 100 axes in total. For this, the recipe for the Golden Axe will be available. From the recipe you will need to find:

  • x1 Golden Nugget
  • x1 Regular Axe

Combine the Golden Nugget with the Regular Axe at the crafting table to come up with a Gold Axe.

Silver Axe can also be obtained later in Animal crossing by purchasing them or the recipes from the store or by crafting them after obtaining the necessary materials needed. Each requires a Regular Axe to be crafted and also other items.

Without an Axe in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you are not going to get far as it is an essential item in the game. As a result, it’s a tool that a player would want to prioritize crafting in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Not only will it be used to chop down any meddlesome trees, but an Axe is also needed to collect wood (softwood or hardwood) which tend to be crucial crafting materials as you progress in the game.
