1. Inuyasha
Many anime series are named after characters in their stories. Inuyasha is a Half-Human, Half-Demon dog with supernatural abilities. He encounters Kagome, a fifteen years old highschool girl that accidentally fell inside the well of her family’s only to find herself transported into a whole different world.
Kagome accidentally shatters an important jewel into many different pieces and spreads it across the country. To prevent those with cruel and menacing intentions from using the jewels, both she and Inuyasha need to find them first before it’s too late.
2. Bleach
He is known as one of the legendary anime series out there. Bleach is spoken about whenever Naruto, One Piece, or Dragon Ball is mentioned. The story is about a high school student named Ichigo. He can see ghosts for an unknown reason, but he wishes to help them pass on to the next life.
That is until he met a Grim Reaper, Rukia. He saw her fighting a monstrous creature, a Hollow. However, she was injured, and she needed Ichigo to fight it to save everyone. And so, he was granted the powers of a Shinigami.
3. Black Clover
In a world filled with people born with a special form of Mana inside of them, magic and the usage of superpowers had become possible for many. Some sought to be the strongest, and some didn’t care much about their abilities. But everyone would hold value for the person who would become the Wizard King.
The main protagonist is Asta, an orphan who aims to become the new Wizard King. However, Asta can’t use magic which is ironic. This makes the story much more challenging for our main character; how will he achieve his dream?
4. D. Gray-Man
An anime about Allen Walker, a young male raised to become an exorcist in an organization called the Black Order. To bond and obtain the potential power of innocence, this organization had done terrible experiments on people and kids for the sake of becoming exorcists.
Exorcists can kill Akuma, and Allen can see Akuma in their human form because of his special eye. Although Exorcists seem to be some saviors, they aren’t treated as heroes, which puts lots of mental stress on the main cast.
5. Dororo
A rework of a very old anime that was made way back in the 1900th century. Dororo is a story about a baby born cursed and missing necessary human parts. However, miracle enough, the baby was able to keep on living. The boy grew up with parts of his body replaced with equipment.
His limbs, eyes, ears, his skin. As his journey starts, he encounters powerful demons maintaining his curses. Every time he eliminates them, he recovers a part of his body. Follow him in his journey as he discovers the truth about his heritage and the reasoning behind his curse.
6. Fire Force
In 1980, large-scale and violent events took place in most parts and destroyed most parts of the world. After that has occurred, humanity is dealing with the major threat of Spontaneous human combustion, where people get set on fire without an apparent reason for ignition.
Those who do turn into infernals that attack people, and to save the city, Fire Force exists to protect them. However, many characters can manipulate fire and use their special abilities to complete their duties.
7. My Hero Academia
Izukuo Midoriya, a boy that had his dream shattered after learning he was born without a Quirk. My Hero Academia is a show that tells us about the evolution of Quirks and how they suddenly started to appear within humanity.
Each person is born with special powers or abilities, and the percentage of people born with Quirks has increased to the point where it is not normal not to have one. Midoriya was still driven to become a hero even without a Quirk, that is until he met his Role Model, All Might.
8. Samurai Champloo
The show starts with two Samurai being held for execution; in front of them stands the governor, who has a very high authority. The show then takes us one day earlier and introduces us to the characters named Mugen and Jin. Those two haven’t met each other before, but they both start a fight against corruption in their path to help innocent people.
Once they interact, they proceed to duel for no appropriate reason. This led them to the execution, only to be later saved by Fuu.
9. Attack On Titan
One of the best modern age anime of all time. People might say Attack On Titan is overrated, but in fact, it has become underrated due to this controversy. Attack on Titan is a masterpiece with one of the best world-building shows of all time.
In AoT, humanity is on the verge of extinction after the appearance of Titans from an unknown entity. All of humanity has run inside three tall walls to protect themselves. After 100 years, Eren, Armin, and Mikasa are faced with a terrible event that will change the course of their lives.
10. Yu Yu Hakusho
Yusuke Urameshi is a teenage student who was unintentionally hit by a car and became a spirit detective. Because of this Yusuke becomes tasked with minor spirit world-related cases only to escalate into much larger things. In the spirit world, Yusuke encounters different spirits, demons, and even psychopaths.
Furthermore, Yusuke finds himself in front of shocking truth and indecisive situations. The villains in the story also become more dangerous and powerful. Other races are introduced, and the essence of the human soul is revealed. Will Yusuke be able to tell the right choice from the wrong one?
11. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
After their mother’s death, Edward and his brother attempt to bring her back from the dead using the powers and secrets of Alchemy, but that has never ended on a good note. Edward lost his arm and leg while his brother’s body was completely erased and put into a giant iron stand.
Failing to revive his mother and causing his brother to lose the sense of his humanity, Edward feels responsible and guilty for his actions. Afterward, both brothers became the government alchemist after passing the requirements needed.
12. The Rising Of The Shield Hero
Naofumi Iwatani is an Otaku that prefers to be a completely normal nerd leading a completely normal life until he picks up a mysterious book in a store. As he browses the pages, he comes across an empty section that immediately transports him to an alternative world.
Iwatani has been summoned as the Shield Hero who needs to fight and save people from evil. After meeting the king, he was informed about waves putting the world into an apocalyptic state. Everything known is going through a path of ruin, and they must be stopped.
13. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Just like the name suggests! JoJo is full of Bizarre adventures! Follow the story of Jonathan Joster, a kind and gentle man who lives in a wealthy family, and his rival Dio, a poor boy with very menacing intentions. After Jonoath’s family was saved by Dio’s father during an accident in their travels, the Josters owe them for the help they made.
However, little did they know the help they brought would only cause misfortune and grief. In a show full of vampires, superhuman abilities, and more Bizarre events, you will find joy following through the generations of Josters.
14. Berserk
Perhaps people would name it the Game of Thrones of anime for its cruelty. Berserk’s story is only meant for a mature audience; it is disturbing and screwed up. However, it’s a good story nonetheless. The Black Knight Guts is a physically strong man with a strong mind.
He became a mercenary and joined their leader, Griffith, after befriending him and those in the army. Guts, Griffith, and everyone are fighting the evil and corruption of this world that gets slowly revealed in the most horrific ways possible.
15. Cells At Work!
Ever wanted to know what happens inside the human body? Cells At Work is an educational anime series brought in the most entertaining way ever! All human cells are represented as anime characters.
The cute red blood cells can be seen working 24/7, while the white blood cells are cold and deadly-looking men that fight interior entities that invade the human body. This show explains how the body works in various situations, like getting infected by viruses or dealing with injuries and cuts in the skin.
16. Fairy Tail
A world full of magic and talking cats can be found in the anime series Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail is a guild that seeks to overcome every obstacle in the mystic continent of Fiore. The story begins with a young lady named Lucy Heartfelia, who goes on long, never-ending adventures with Natsu Dragneel, Happy the cat, Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet.
The Fairy Tail guild can be seen put into the challenge against Dragons, Immortals, Demons, Gods, Zodiacs, and many more entities in this world, each having their special powers to help them fight.
17. Jujutsu Kaisen
Itadori is a high school student that is very extroverted and open-minded. He can be seen cheerful most of the time, even while having to take care of his grandfather, that is on the death bed. As Itadori was trying to mourn the death of his relative, another guy came across him to ask about a cursed object.
Learning that this cursed object is with the hands of his friends, he rushes back to the school to save them. Having no other choice, Itadori fights the monstrous curse by eating the cursed object, a finger of a mighty curse named Sukuna. Now, he serves as a vessel to find all 25 fingers and eliminate Sukuna from this world to stop curses from existing.
18. Dragon Ball Franchise
Dragon Ball is the masterpiece of all anime, the inspiration of many, and because of that, it holds respect from lots of people. The franchise has introduced popular Techniques like “Kamehameha” and “Spirit Bomb,” which have been referenced and reimagined by many people and kids.
As a newborn Saiyan baby, Kakarot is sent to earth by his parents to be saved by the fate of the Saiyan homeworld, Planet Vegeta. Being found and adopted by Grandpa Gohan, Kakarot is given the earth name Goku, and his life begins as a Martial Artist.
19. Ushio And Tora
Ushio is just an ordinary boy who attends school and lives with his grandfather. After he was informed that his grandpa would be gone for about a year, he was tasked with watching over the temple they had outside their house. After his departure, Ushio was left alone and went to the temple to be trampled by all the old remains the temple was keeping.
After picking himself up, he found a hidden basement, and inside the basement, he met a terrifying creature named Tora. This demon-like creature asks Ushio to remove the spear inside him, only for Ushio to refuse. What will he do after learning the secrets his grandfather hides? How will he deal with Tora, who is a threat to humanity?
20. Ninja Scroll
A graphic, violent and beautiful anime film was released in 1993. It is full of action thrilling events that revolve around a highly experienced Ninja named Jubei, a complete badass wearing a straw hat and wielding a long-sharp sword.
Ninja scrolls mix both reality and fantasy in Japan. Jubei has his sword for hire, meaning he would fight for the right price, but he ended up being caught in the government mission to kill all eight ninja devils. Ninja Scrolls have lots of blood, gore, and disgusting scenes meant only for adults.
21. Goblin Slayer
Goblins are nasty, annoying, and filthy creatures that live inside dungeons and attack all kinds of adventure groups. They use cheap tactics to kill humans, and other races then use their females to do all sorts of nasty actions.
However, a man known as the Goblin Slayer has one purpose in his life, and it is to eliminate all Goblins from this world. He lives to kill Globins, his armor, weapons, and daily habits are all meant to be useful when it comes to killing those screwed-up creatures.
22. Golden Kamuy
To fulfill his friend’s dying wish, Sugimoto teams up with a young girl named Asirpa, each trying to achieve their own goals with the help of each other. A treasure was hidden by one of Sugimoto’s comrades during the war.
This story was followed by Aspira because she was an Ainu, and those people were murdered by a man and had their treasure stolen. The anime is full of action and adventures and lots of JoJo references that can be easily seen. The main character is inspired by Jotaro Joster.
23. Avatar the Air Bender
Aang is the last Air Bender accidentally discovered inside ice by Sokka and Katara. He was kept alive for a hundred years, and after he woke up from his pale slumber, he learned the harsh reality of this world.
Water, earth, fire, air, all those kingdoms lived together in harmony because the Avatar kept balance in this world, but when they needed him the most, he vanished. Now, Aang is the Last Air Bender and the only one who can become the next avatar and master all four elements.
24. Princess Mononoke
The civilization of men has finally grown up to rival the power of the gods of forests. The war held a weight heavy enough to shake the world, and it was only up to a young princess to save it. Mononoke is a young girl with markings on her face.
She is brave and determined to drive all humans out from the forest in this conflict of a war that humanity will never forget. Princess Mononoke is a must-watch movie for all anime lovers out there.
25. Rurouni Kenshin
A series filled with Japanese historical influences. However, you don’t need to know anything about Japanese history at all. Kenshin Himura is the main protagonist of the series, a 28-year-old man who vowed never to kill anyone again.
However, the story takes place during the Meiji Revolution, and in all of this chaos, Kenshin won’t be given many choices in certain scenarios, tempting him to break his vow. Many characters in the series are based on historical figures, making the series somewhat educational.
