As a devoted Destiny enthusiast boasting over 1000 hours played, I‘ve made it my mission to dissect the ins and outs of builds to discover the strongest PVE setups possible. And after endless experimentation across three classes, I‘m convinced this explosive void Titan build stands atop as the best-in-class.
My name‘s Alex and I‘ve been gaming since the days of the original PlayStation. Destiny captured my imagination from the first teaser images back in 2013. Its expansive worlds and powerful gunplay pulled me in hook, line, and sinker.
I began my journey as a Hunter main but eventually fell in love with the Titan‘s tanky, in-your-face playstyle. Their bruising subclasses matched my love of intense first-person shooters.
After binging Destiny 2 non-stop since the Season of the Forge, I consider myself a subject matter expert on all things guardian related. Lately I‘ve spent most of my time creating video guides teaching players how to optimize their builds.
From raid race runs to 100k Nightfall speedruns, I‘ve tried them all. So trust me when I say this volatile void detonator build stands head and shoulders above the rest for PVE DPS.
Let‘s break down the components piece by piece to showcase why…
Code of the Commander: Void Detonation Supremacy
Many players default to more popular roaming supers like Hammer of Sol or Fist of Havoc. But for endgame PVE, I firmly believe middle tree Sentinel soars highest.
Unlocking the Code of the Commander subclass gives Titans access to the crucial Void Detonator mechanic. Damaging enemies with any void ability sticks these volatile charges that explode upon taking additional damage.
And in a world where Energy Accelerant exists – a seasonal artifact mod boosting all void detonator damage – these combos hit harder than a Phalanx shield bash.
In terms of damage numbers, each individual void detonator deals roughly 3500 damage in normal scenarios. But with Energy Accelerant equipped, that number skyrockets to 10500 per detonation – a whopping 200% increase!
Stack multiple detonations chaining from groups of adds thanks to AoE attacks like grenade launchers, and we‘re talking the potential for upwards of 50,000 damage every few seconds. No other subclass can farm supers and abilities at that outrageous of a clip.
The offensive capabilities alone cement middle tree Sentinel as a top tier selection. But the neutral game perks also provide invaluable support bonuses further strengthening its case.
Casting Ward of Dawn blinds enemies with its Void Light, amplifying your squad‘s damage against blinded targets by 50% for 10 seconds. Fantastic for burning down majors quickly.
And perhaps most crucially, executing Sentinel Shield tosses out Void Overshields to nearby allies. These O-Shields grant a bonus 50 health which can and will prevent lethal burst damage during chaotic encounters.
In terms of subclass identification, I consider Code of the Commander an S-Tier option in both offense and defense. Its versatility cements itself perfectly into this elite loadout.
Helm of Saint-14: Tactical Area Denial
While exotics like Cuirass of the Falling Star or Ursa Furiosa excel situationally, the Helm of Saint-14 offers invaluable utility through every PVE activity. Its neutral game perks support the Code of the Commander and create a potent area denial tool.
Extending Ward of Dawn duration to a maximum 15 seconds gives your fireteam precious additional breathing room against menacing ultras and bosses. That‘s 25% longer buff uptime for melting targets quicker.
It also blinds enemies that foolishly wander into the protective bubble, preventing melee attacks and grenades from disrupting blessings. This pairs lethally with Weapons of Light providing a 35% damage boost against blinded foes.
Between defensive Strike buffs and extended Ward, the Helm of Saint-14 allows Titans to confidently anchor at objectives and chokepoints. There simply aren‘t many exotics providing this level of remarkable consistency.
And while Middle tree Sentinel loses out on potential Hammer Strike debuffs, everything else in its toolkit fuels top tier damage enabling. I have no doubt that players leveraging this helm effectively will succeed across all PVE activities.
Weapons Breakdown: Accelerant Powerhouses
Now to the toys – a weapon set handpicked to fully abuse Energy Accelerant void detonations through various explosive payload perks. Each offering massive damage individually, their powers combined utterly melt opposing forces.
Witherhoard: The Blighted Beast
In terms of exotic heavies, no other can match Witherhoard‘s phenomenal versatility and damage. It essentially serves as an extended duration Anarchy grenade launching spread damage nightmares.
The intrinsic Blighted Rounds perk creates blights dealing 152 damage-per-tick to enemies standing within. That‘s enough to smoke most red bars without even directly hitting them.
And direct contact shots coat targets in a blight dealing 381 damage-per-tick over 9 seconds. These blights stack dealing 1143 damage-per-tick at x3 – usually enough to delete unsuspecting champions.
Now slap on Energy Accelerant and void detonators adding even more blight damage. Those numbers skyrocket exponentially higher, enabling such insane abilities uptime that supers and grenades constantly rain destruction.
In addition, pairing Witherhoard with other AoE attacks like grenades and rocket launchers can drive its tick damage into even more ridiculous numbers. At 5x Blighted Rounds I‘ve seen single blights tick for upwards of 2000+.
It‘s this type of exponential scaling potential that helped one-phase raid bosses like Atheon, proving dominant in the PVE meta for good reason.
Funnelweb: Void Reign Supreme
While weapon favorites fluctuate from season to season, Funnelweb stands firmly planted as this year‘s dominant void SMG. Its versatile kit enables it to succeed in all content types.
Packing natural stats geared heavily for stability and recoil direction, it provides easy to control full auto precision damage – a godsend handling tougher mid tier enemies.
Coupled with perks like Subsistence for frequent reloads and Frenzy for a flat 15% damage buff after 12 seconds in combat, it brings efficiency on par with several exotics!
Landing those precision hits also pumps out void detonators, feeding into ability regeneration loops. Funnelweb supercharges the neutral game, enabling extremely fast ultimate uptime.
And compared to Night Watch or Strident Whistle as anti-barrier options, Funnelweb out damages both by a significant margin thanks to Frenzy and Energy Accelerant boosting void damage.
While Fatebringer and Insidious pose as popular alternatives, I‘ve found success most consistent sticking with this monster SMG for unstoppable and barrier popping alike.
Falling Guillotine: Heavy Hitter Hall of Famer
Despite falling slightly out of favor since its heyday reign in Season of Arrivals, Falling Guillotine still posts scary burst potential, specifically versus chunky majors and bosses.
Its legend starts with the perk combination of Relentless Strikes and Whirlwind Blade – the former regenerating sword ammo after rapid kills, the latter providing increasing damage stacks capped at x10.
At full Whirlwind frenzy, each Falling Guillotine heavy attack slashes for roughly ~100k damage. And thanks to the Ammo Finder mod, purple boxes appear frequently enabling frequent ultimate attacks.
Pair this with Lucent Blade to increase all sword damage by 35% after consuming Charged with Light stacks. We‘re talking 130k+ heavy slashes that can instantly delete enemies.
In terms of competition, Lament and Half-Truths lose steam during extended DPS phases. Their short windows often force awkward re-positioning exposing players to danger.
Plus swords still retain excellent burst potential versus tougher enemies thanks to several artifact mods like Passive Guard reducing all incoming damage by 50% when wielding one.
While slightly riskier against OHK stomp attacks, the sheer damage numbers justify slotting in Falling Guillotine over all other legendaries. It simply hits too hard when enabled properly!
Supportive Mods: Charged Up Crowd Control
With weapons and subclasses covered, various seasonal mods fill gaps by juicing detonator damage, manipulating Warmind Cells, and charging the team with overshields for driving maximum uptime.
Starting with the basics, Charged Up and Protective Light provide a strong defensive baseline. The former doubles maximum Charged with Light stacks from 2 to 4. The latter consumes stacks upon losing shields granting 25% damage resistance for 10 seconds.
This minimizes deaths from burst damage during intense encounters. Protective Light secures comeback potential if ambushed while separated from the pack.
Offensively, Wrath of Rasputin shines by giving solar splash damage final blows a chance to drop Warmind Cells. Paired with Witherhoard strikes blighting groups of adds, cells spawn frequently clearing waves instantly.
These void cells inflict a punishing 30% debuff with Reaping Wellmaker equipped too! Swapping Wrath of Rasputin for Rage of the Warmind enables solar cell explosions dealing massive area damage – a personal favorite for demolishing crowded halls.
And finally, the new seasonal artifact mod Energy Accelerant sits center stage juicing all void detonations by a substantial 30% bonus. The earlier damage calculator examples demonstrate precisely how potent this can scale into.
Squeezing optional Charge Harvester and Precision Charge mods gifts additional Charged with Light stacks from rapid SMG kills. Maintaining maximum uptime on Lucent Blade and Protective Light makes challenging combat so much easier.
This suite of Charged with Light, Warmind Cell, and seasonal artifact mods enables the entire build to pop off. Chaining supers and grenades couldn‘t come faster thanks to their unique synergy present here.
Offense. Defense. Utility.
While certainly not foolproof, I‘m fully convinced this explosive Titan tops the competition as far as well-rounded endgame PVE potential goes. It brings a phenomenal balance of offense, defense, and support capabilities into a single cohesive unit.
Few subclasses can detonate void Anarchy levels of exponential crowd clear so rapidly. Paired with excellent weapon choices like Witherhoard, this build presses down the gas pedal heavily favoring aggression.
Blinding Ward of Dawns, frequent overshield application, insane reactive burst damage from cells/detonators, and damage reduction buffs provide enough safety nets protecting from the increased risks too.
So consider my 1800+ hours of experience as recommendation – strap into this utter beast of a Titan loadout taking the Destiny 2 metagame by storm! It conquers the opposition through strategic void detonations and I can‘t get enough wrecking shop with it lately.
Give this explosive build a shot and witness yourself how overwhelming its volatile void explosions unleash. You won‘t be disappointed!
Let me know down in the comments your thoughts – do you prefer alternative subclass paths and loadouts? I‘m interested hearing where other Destiny veterans stand currently on PVE effectiveness.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the build Guardians!
